[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]With the recent Marie Kondo and her “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” show on Netflix, more and more people are looking at how they can tidy their homes so they too can experience some life-changing magic.

However, sometimes it is not that easy. As specialists of removals in Cambridge, we know all too well how many things people can keep in areas of their homes for months and even years. In many cases, they have forgotten how much is in their loft until they come to move house.

In this blog post we thought we would share some top tips for starting your spring clean early – ready for your house move. These tips will enable you to tidy up your home, and hopefully experience that Kondo effect.

Clearing out and tidying up your home is a huge project in itself. So start by choosing just one room. Even if you just do one room a month it will still make a massive impact on your home, your available space and when you need to move home!

You’ll need to have 3 boxes or bags in the room. One is for things you want to keep. One is for things that you want to donate to friends or to a charity shop. The last is for things that need to go in the bin.
As you pick things up you need to ask yourself if you have used it, worn it or even looked at it in the past year. You also need to ask yourself if you love it, or it brings happy memories. If it’s not been used in the last year and it doesn’t bring happy memories then it can’t go in the keep box. There are absolutely no exceptions!

Make sure you sort out your storage space too. It is so easy to stick things in the back of the shed, garage, loft and cupboard hidden in the spare room. Things that you think might be useful or things that you might use. In reality, they are just taking up valuable space and have done since you put them in there 5 years ago. Moving home is the perfect opportunity to get rid of the clutter and the things you kept ‘just in case’.

As experts in Removals in Ely we know it can be hard to get rid of things, but we also know how much new and bigger homes can cost but bigger garages, lofts and storage space is soon filled up. If you tidy up your home, de-clutter and clear out in the right way, you’ll feel the benefit of your new house sooner rather than later. Contacts us now to find out more about Removals Ely and how we can help you. Clearing your home now will make your house move in Ely easier in the future.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
